Why is it difficult to Develop faith and devotion even when we know it is good for us?

Human nature is such that we accept what we like, and find faults with what we do not like. Our likes and dislikes depend upon inherent tendencies brought from our last life. When we give in to these easily, they get strengthened. Only when we think and analyse what is good and what is not, and decide upon a line of positive action, can we overcome our inherent tendencies and rise in life.
