यह सूर्य नहीं, चन्द्रमा है…Full Moon of Sharad Poornima

आश्‍इवन मास की शुक्ल पक्ष की पूर्णिमा को शरद पूर्णिमा sharad Purnima कहते हैं। इसे रास पूर्णिमा Raas Poornima भी कहते हैं। सम्पूर्ण वर्ष में आश्विन मास की पूर्णिमा का चन्द्रमा ही षोडस कलाओं का होता है।

कहते हैं कि इस दिन चन्द्रमा अमृत की वर्षा करता है। शरद पूर्णिमा के दिन शाम को खीर, पूरी बनाकर भगवान को भोग लगाएँ । भोग लगाकर खीर को छत पर रख दें और रात को भगवान का भजन करें। चाँद की रोशन में सुईं पिरोएँ । अगले दिन खीर का प्रसाद सबको देना चाहिए ।

इस दिन प्रात:काल आराध्य देव को सुन्दर वस्त्राभूषणों से सुशोभित करें । आसन पर विराजमान कर गंध, अक्षत, पुष्प, धूप, दीप, नैवेध, ताम्बूल, सुपारी, दक्षिणा आदि से पूजा करनी चाहिए ।

This day is also known as ‘Kojaagari Vrat Purnima’. Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth moves around in the night sky, asking `Ko jaagarti’ searching for people below who are awake. In Sanskrit, `Ko jaagarti’ means, ‘ Who is awake?’ And to those who are awake She gifts wealth.

भगवती महालक्ष्मी रात्रिमें यह देखनेके लिये घूमती हैं कि कौन जाग रहा है। जो जाग रहा है उसे धन देती हैं । लक्ष्मीजीके ‘को जागर्ति’ कहनेके कारण इस व्रतका नाम कोजागर पडा है।

This vrat Karwa Chauth is observed by married women सुहागिन for ensuring wedded bliss and wishing long life for their husbands and children. A married woman who observes this vrat is called ‘Saubhagyavati’ (joyous and happy state of wifehood).

On Karwa Chauth day, the women keep fast and at moon rise time go to the roof to worship the moon for the long life of their husbands. The same day is celebrated as Lord Shiva Family worship….

In the evening, having seen the moon or its reflection in a platter or thali full of water they share a special feast. An elderly woman in the house is supposed to narrate the story of Karwa Chauth before the fast is terminated..
